People collect WHAT? Plus 5 more rabbit holes
Hey, Aron here.
I lost myself in a few rabbit holes this week. I found a site for business ideas and inspriation, a market I didn't know existed and a few tools and trends that I think you’ll like to explore.
Enjoy getting immersed in a few of these, below.
🐇 Rabbit Hole #1: A marketplace full of business ideas
I found a site called IndieMaker, where people list small internet businesses for sale. You'll find tiny SaaS products, browser extensions, mobile apps, niche websites etc. Some are businesses I would never have thought to build.
Browsing what other entrepreneurs have created is an interesting way to discover ideas and opportunities you might never have considered.

🐇 Rabbit Hole #2: Who makes the products we buy?
I found a site called Import Yeti that lets you explore millions of customs shipment records. You can look up companies and investigate their overseas supply chains. It's interesting to see how physical products get made. And, you might find a supplier for your product idea. This site is insane!
I could dig around this all afternoon.
🐇 Strange Markets: People collect old hotel keys
Apparently, there's an entire secondary market for vintage hotel room keys. Old brass keys and colorful plastic tags are being bought and sold. Who knew.
Is it nostalgia? Or a sign of the times… people are speculating on wild things these days. There are many listings which leads me to believe there are buyers here. Could this be a growing collectibles category that hasn’t hit the mainstream yet? People are selling these on eBay, Etsy and other marketplaces.
🐇 Rabbit Hole #4: Teach an AI something weird
I found a Google experiment called Teachable Machine that lets you train your own AI without writing any code. Show it a few examples of objects or sounds and it learns to recognize them. Imagine teaching AI to identify collectibles or sort different products.
What unusual little businesses could people create with something like this?
🐇 What’s Emerging: An AI that listens to plants
A startup called Electric Plant just raised $11.2 million to develop sensors and AI that interpret electrical signals inside plants. When I found this article, I was thinking whaaaaaat?
The idea is that plants may be able to tell growers what they need before traditional monitoring equipment detects a problem. Could this be a breakthrough for farming and agriculture?
🐇 Want to play around with your own idea?
You don't have to launch anything.
Just describe something you'd like to see exist and see what comes back.
